Missing Children: Dynamics & Response (MCDR)

This one day seminar, hosted by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children®, provides critical information to those officers and investigators who will respond to a missing child report and whose knowledge, skill and ability may make the difference between recovery and a protracted investigation. Participants are expected to attend all training segments and complete an evaluation form.

This course is designed for dispatchers, telecommunicators, investigators, detectives and other first responders.

7.5 hours of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification is available for all attending Virginia law enforcement officers.


  • Scope & scale of missing children incidents.
  • Sex offenders typology (preferential & situational)
  • Intra & inter-agency law enforcement response.
  • Department policy & procedures.
  • Pre-incident planning.
  • NCMEC investigative and support resources.
  • Implementation of planned response.


The cost of admittance, training materials and instructors fees are covered by NCMEC. Meals, travel and lodging expenses are not covered by NCMEC.
