Telecommunications Best Practices for Missing and Abducted Children
This free, online course was developed and is administered by the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program. It is designed to provide public safety telecommunicators, calltakers and dispatchers with the tools and training needed to promote swift and decisive response in the critical, early stages of missing and abducted child cases.
This course is designed for front-line telecommunicators, their lead workers and trainers. Sworn law enforcement may also take this course if they work closely with telecommunication professionals in the areas of National Crime Information Center data entry and management when missing and abducted child cases occur.
Topics you will cover include:
- Nature of the problem: Missing, abducted and sexually exploited children.
- Best practices and operational protocols.
- NCIC and effective data management.
- Resources for the communications center.
This course is offered free of charge.
This course is delivered through Fox Valley Technical College's Blackboard Online Learning System, is designed to be completed in a self-directed manner and can be completed at times most conducive to the participant's schedule and his or her departmen's operations.
The content is delivered across five detailed modules and designed to require approximately five hours to complete. The course is available online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for registered users during the FVTC academic term in which they are enrolled.
