| SUMMARY: |
The AMBER Alert Highway
Network is a new initiative being launched by QUALCOMM, Inc. and
NCMEC with the support of ATA. This new initiative will alert truck
drivers within targeted geographic regions through wireless on-board
technology when an AMBER Alert is issued. Alerts will contain details
of the crime and information that may help lead to the safer return
of abducted children. In 2003, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., QUALCOMM and
NCMEC launched RoadWatch, the country's first private trucking network
that alerts drivers about endangered missing children, whose cases
might not meet the criteria for AMBER Alert activation. |
