CUT-THONS RAISE RECORD $100,000 FOR NATIONAL CENTER
FOR
MISSING & EXPLOITED CHILDREN
EVANSTON, Ill. – Pivot Point International, its affiliated schools
and the American Association of Cosmetology Schools have raised $100,000
for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). The
funds will support NCMEC’s ongoing work of protecting children from
abduction and sexual exploitation.
“For the past 10 years, Pivot Point International has
been an invaluable partner, hosting events to raise money for the National
Center for Missing & Exploited Children,” said Ernie Allen, president
and CEO of NCMEC. “We appreciate Pivot Point’s ongoing charitable
contributions to support our prevention efforts to make the world a safer
place for children,”
The fundraisers were held at 90 locations nationwide on National
Missing Children’s Day, involving nearly 10,000 cosmetology students.
At the Pivot Point campuses in Evanston, Bloomingdale and
Chicago, students raised funds for NCMEC by providing a full range of services
including hair styling, hair and scalp treatments, color services, facials,
body wraps, makeup application and nail services.
“We donated 100 percent of the cost of our salon services
to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children,” said
Corrine Passage, executive director of Pivot Point Cares for Kids™.
“We are extremely committed to community service and NCMEC,” Passage
added. “This year’s contribution brings our total fundraising
efforts for NCMEC to more than $600,000. We created the cut-a-thon benefit
as a vehicle for mobilizing our industry in support of NCMEC’s mission.
In fact, we are so committed to community service that we teach it as part
of our cosmetology curriculum. We want to graduate young men and women who
understand the value of making a difference.”
