Child Identification: What Parents/Guardians Should Know

One of the most important tools for law-enforcement to use in the recovery of a missing child is an up-to-date, good-quality photograph along with descriptive information.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children recommends parents and guardians keep current child identification information on hand and offers these resources as guidance on the issue of child identification and the tools parents and guardians need to be prepared.

Pictures Work!

The familiar adage "A picture is worth a thousand words" has proven to be true time and again by the return of missing children who have been identified through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's Picture Them Home® campaign.

The Picture Them Home campaign is an ongoing initiative to raise awareness about the power of pictures and their importance in the search for missing children. Having a good quality, recent photograph of a child is critical to this campaign. Because pictures work, it's our goal to distribute posters to as broad an audience as possible.
